How the price is set
In 2026 each quarter's price is the weighted average of EU ETS auction clearing prices in that quarter, published in the first week after the quarter ends. From February 2027 certificates are bought on a common central platform.
What your buyer pays per tonne of product also depends on the phase-in (the free allocation deduction shrinks every year) and on whether EU default values or verified emissions are used. The cost calculator combines all three.
